Jan 24: Happy 249th Birthday 🥳  to  Mr. Muzio Filippo Vincenzo Francesco Saverio Clementi (1752-1832)!

🎵 Sonatina Op.36 No.1, 1st Movement, in C Major by Clementi

Let’s say his FULL name out loud 😅 several times: 🎵Muzio Filippo Vincenzo Francesco Saverio Clementi! 🎵Muzio Filippo Vincenzo Francesco Saverio Clementi! 🎵Muzio Filippo Vincenzo Francesco Saverio Clementi!

Clementi was an Italian-born English composer, pianist, pedagogue, conductor, music publisher, and piano manufacturer!

Influenced by Domenico Scarlatti’s harpsichord school 🎹 and Haydn’s classical school 🎼, Clementi developed a fluent and technical legato style, which he passed on to a generation of pianists, including John Field, Johann Baptist Cramer, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, and Carl Czerny.  He was a notable influence on Beethoven and Chopin! 🧐😲.

If you have been taking formal 🎹 lessons, you have probably played a few sonatina’s by Clementi. Op.36 no.1 you hear in this post is one of the most beloved sonatinas around the world!

Jan 27: Happy 265th Birthday 🥳  to the one and the only 🎉 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)🎊

🧐 What is your favorite piece by Mozart? Any one of his 🎹 sonatas? Or 🎹 concertos ? How about his operas🎭  (I personally love the music of Don Giovanni)? His string 🎻 works? Chamber music? Any of his orchestral works? There are so many great pieces by him to choose from!

Mozart wrote 41 symphonies, written between 1767(he was only 11!) and 1788. I was in the mood of Symphony No.40 in G minor–in contrast to common belief of Mozart’s music being light and graceful, this symphony is filled with his passion, anger, and grief.

🎶Which piece(s) by Mozart are you going to listen 🎧 to today?
